Every projection is illustrative
The calculators assume constant rates of return, inflation and interest. No real market behaves that way. A projection showing a crore in twenty years is arithmetic about an assumption, not a forecast — the actual result depends heavily on when you invest, when you withdraw, and a decade of events nobody can predict.
Past performance does not indicate future returns. Market investments carry risk, including the risk of losing capital.
What the tools do not know
They know only what you type. They do not know your job security, your health, your family circumstances, your tax position in detail, or how you will actually behave in a year when your portfolio falls 40 percent. Those factors routinely matter more than the arithmetic does.
Rates and rules change
PPF and EPF rates are revised by the government. Tax slabs, deduction limits and scheme rules change with each Budget. We update our defaults, but verify any figure that matters against the current official source before relying on it.
